Jealousy is an emotion that, for many people, is, in fact, an occupying force, a kind of possession. My intention is to express the conflicting energies of anger, resentment, and misery contrasted with the possibility (or delusion) of re-connection. The figure’s head is turning down and to the right, towards the archetypal warrior/masculine side. His arms are defensively crossed, but his right hand is also reaching out and towards the left, feminine side. His body is embedded in the stone on his right side and becoming free on his left. He is, at once, both turning away and trying to reach out. And his head is on fire. – Ted Fleming
